Thanks to Pieter van der Hoeven, co-founder and CEO of Clocktimizer, for a great discussion during the #feedbackforum on the #virtuallunch today, Tuesday, December 22, 2020. My key takeaways were: (1) The legal industry needs more productivity solutions; (2) A Powerpoint presentation and $500 for a designer can serve as the foundation for a technology platform; (3) It helps to be more visual in communication; (4) Ideas are cheap, but the value is in the execution; (5) If you build something that does not solve a problem, it will be difficult to sell; (6) There is always an element of luck in starting and growing a company; (7) We need to have a bias toward action given the increasing level of competition; (8) Businesses need to be agile and move forward quickly; (9) Sometimes you make mistakes and break things; (10) Always ask how you can add more value; and, (11) Leverage technology to earn a competitive advantage. I am grateful to attendees Kisha Velazquez, MBA, Scott J. Jaffee, CPA, CGMA, Stephen Embry, Molly McDonough, Jaimie Field, Monica Sandler, Ann Gorr, Dennis Garcia ⚖, Sherine Clarke, Bernadette Beekman, Jennifer Gillman, Carol Jackson-Doerge, Jay Stromberg, Robin Moselle, Laurence Whittam, Jeff Schwarz, and Lana Bukvic.
