The end of the 27th week of the #virtuallunch today, Friday, September 18, 2020, featured a fantastic discussion with Neil Sahota (萨冠军). He educated and inspired us about the promise of artificial intelligence. My key takeaways were: (1) Craft a narrative to which people can relate; (2) People cannot wrap their heads around how to use AI; (3) The most successful AI ventures have come from domain experts; (4) You need to solve a pain point; (5) There is a need for diversity and inclusion in training AI systems; (6) Clients are driving firms toward fixed pricing and greater efficiency in general; (7) Younger law firms are starting to realize that if they don’t adapt, their businesses will fail; and, (8) When you bring an AI initiative to a firm, you are spreading the cost among the partners, which is easier at a large firm than it is at a mid-sized or a small firm. Thanks very much to Neil and attendees Scott J. Jaffee, CPA, CGMA, Molly McDonough, Gayle O’Connor, Joanna Roman, Sherine Clarke, Vishal Agnihotri, Joy Murao, Vance McMurry, Bernadette Beekman, Jaimie Field, Minoo Razavi, Ann Gorr, Alan Fanger, Stephen Embry, Suzanne Schwartz, and Gail Ruopp.
