What a fantastic #virtuallunch today, Wednesday, September 16, 2020, thanks to Colin Levy, who shared candid, generous, and authentic advice on navigating a competitive job market, leveraging social media to strengthen connections, and expressing gratitude. My key takeaways were: (1) Focus on what you can help others learn through your experience; (2) Concentrate on the job search, rather than your prior employer; (3) Temper your social media messaging to minimize emotions and foster interaction; (4) What you put out into the universe is what you get back; (5) Trust the process and rely on your support system during the down moments; (6) The job search process is never easy or fun and is always challenging; (7) You need to maintain a resilient mindset; (8) There is a tendency to be overwhelmed by desperation in the current environment, so it is critical to remain patient; and, (9) Be open to potential opportunities.
