Joy Heath Rush, reimagining the virtual conference, and remote public speaking

Spread the love

Thanks so much to Joy Heath Rush of the International Legal Technology Association (ILTA) for a fantastic encore appearance and a candid discussion about virtual conferences, specifically #ILTAsONit, on the #virtuallunch today, Wednesday, September 9, 2020. My key takeaways were: (1) Data is much richer and more complete in a virtual event; (2) Many associations use Higher Logic and it is likely that they will use it more extensively in the future; (3) It is important for a virtual conference organizer to own its data and manage the event directly; (4) Even for those who are very experienced, remote public speaking can be very disorienting; (5) In the virtual environment, the selection of speakers is more important; and (6) Virtual events offer access to speakers who would not be able to attend a live event. Thanks to attendees Sheila A. Grela, Bárbara Gondim da Rocha, Cristin Traylor, Sherine Clarke, Bernadette Beekman, Gayle O’Connor, Brett Burney, Nancy Myrland, Robin Moselle, Melissa “Rogo” Rogozinski, Alexander Irschenberger, Minoo Razavi, Jaimie Field, Suzanne Schwartz, Stephen Embry, Molly McDonough, Tracy Elmblad, Carol Jackson-Doerge, Albert Barsocchini, Aayu Misra, Vishal Agnihotri, Laurence Whittam, and Jeff Schwarz.
